Women’s Equality Centennial Celebration luncheon set August 25

After a two-year delay, the Women’s Equality Centennial Celebration, featuring Astronaut Dr. Mae Jemison, has been set for August 25. The luncheon was postponed due to COVID.

Tickets purchased for the 2020 or 2021 luncheon will be honored, as will sponsorships. Additional tickets and sponsorships are available by clicking on Tickets. An additional 150 tickets are available.  Tickets purchased in 2020 and 2021 will be honored.

Dr. Jemison is an engineer and physician who became the first African-American woman to be admitted into NASA’s astronaut training program and travel in space. Dr. Jemison served as a mission specialist on the Space Shuttle Endeavour and orbited the earth for almost eight days in 1992. Dr. Jemison is now focused on encouraging young people to consider careers in STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) to help solve the challenges of the future.

Tickets and sponsorships originally purchased for the luncheon, in 2020 and 2021, will be honored. Additional sponsorships and tickets will be available through links at SteppingUpEvv.com.

In addition to celebrating the 19th Amendment, Women’s Equality Day luncheon acknowledges much more is needed for women to achieve equality in pay, representation and voice.

In addition to the luncheon, Stepping Up works to help women step up through training and allowing women to preserve and record their stories in a video project. The organization makes HerStory, an enactment of the history of women in the region, available for presentation in schools and organization meetings.
