The Stepping Up EVV Video Project was inspired by the stories women have told throughout the years at Stepping Up and Women’s Equality Day presentations from the panelists who have spoken of their challenges in leadership to the women of the audience who stand and share their experiences.
Although the videos are still being edited we wanted to give you a sample of what to expect. This video below provides a sample from the interviews with IVY Tech Community College President Sue Ellspermann and University of Southern Indiana President Linda Bennett and includes pictures of the interviewers and videographers in action.
The project to record the stories of women throughout the Tri-State was also inspired by Makers.com, a national project by PBS and AOL to record the stories of women around the world. We call it writing women back into history.
Stepping Up is working with Bosse Community Link and Videographers Byron Lander and Macabe Brown. So far we have recorded the stories of Estella Moss, Indiana Senator Vaneta Becker, former State Representative Gail Riecken, USI President Linda Bennett and Sue Ellspermann, president of IVY Tech Community College. Those videos are currently being edited. Those videos will be posted here when they are completed.
Our goal for this ongoing project is to create a library or stories by recording as many voices as possible. We have started with community leaders but we know there are more.
If you have a story or know a voice we should record, please email us.
In addition to being available at this website, our videos will be locally broadcast and will be shared on YouTube.com.
Our goal for the Stepping Up Video project is to create of a library of videos of the women leaders in the community who have made a difference in their families, businesses, nonprofit organizations and government. They will speak of their histories, challenges and accomplishments. The videos will be broadcast locally and available internationally on the Internet.
