Alberta Stevenson

 Alberta Stevenson was a teacher in Evansville schools for more than 40 years before her retirement in 1974. She was the first black librarian in an Evansville high school and the first black school counselor in the public school system. She was also the first black member of the Evansville Board of Realtors. She was instrumental in establishing local programs to encourage minority students to attend college and also helped establish an NAACP program to help parents prepare children for elementary school.
